Aleksej Iskos

Аleksеj Iskos was born in Ukraine, and since 1991 he has lived and worked in Copenhagen, Denmark. He graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and the School of Design.

Since 2010, co-founder and partner of Iskos-Berlin Design. In 2018, he founded his own company, Iskos Design.

He creates furniture, lighting and other design products, combining Danish minimalism with the poetic soul of his homeland to spread modern vibes around the world.

Aleksej had the pleasure of working with Bloom Holland, Blå Station, Bomma, Hay, Handvärk, Harvest One, Fritz Hansen, Jot Jot, Made By Hand, Menu, Muuto, Normann Copenhagen, ODESD2, Stylex, Versus, Zero and others.

Aleksej believes that function is the cornerstone of design. But he also adds that just like love is much more than the reproduction instinct, design is much more than just a solution to a particular problem.

Aleksej says: "We appreciate design not only for its practical purpose, but also for what it communicates to us, for the emotions it creates, for the memories it awakes, for the story it tells us. To tell this story, the designer appeals to both sense and sensibility, and the function becomes poetry. It is this poetry we fall in love with."

Poetic attitude to creativity is felt in all design projects of Aleksej Iskos. The upholstered furniture SLICE, a collaboration with Japanese artist Yukifumi Shibasaki. The new ecological generation of the Fiber Chair. Or in the concept store of ZAVOD there is a recycled plastic lampshade Under the Bell, which is one of many examples of the designer's special poetry.

The joint project of Oleksiy Iskos and ZAVOD is REAL TIME watches. Special, poetically expressive, they are about true reality, the value of every moment and making wishes under the stars. It is such a design project that is impossible not to fall in love with.
